For as long as it took, I carried you in safety. For a fleeting moment, your eyes had not yet opened and you had no thought to where you were. You relied on me to carry you until you’d grown and developed enough to take your first step. The first step in a journey planned long before you ever existed (Jeremiah 1:5). I was the origin and everlasting source of all your needs (Philippians 4:19)… the one you wholeheartedly trusted.
But you’d soon outgrow this place and become ready to face the next world of mysteries. You began to get uncomfortable and anxious to move on. You pushed your way out, kicking and screaming to show your independence. At last, you’d arrived.
You arrived at the place you were so curious about and determined to be apart of. But it’s not all that you imagined. It’s not as safe and comforting as it was when it was just me and you. You have to fight for things here. You have to earn things that you never had to when you were only under my wing.
You blame me. You fight me and claim I don’t love you. That I don’t hear you, because I don’t do all the things that you want me to do.
My sweet child, I need you to close your eyes again and remember all that I have done for you (Psalm 77:11). Because I would do it all over again.
I need you to lift your head and find your life again in me.
It does not matter what you have done. I will correct you, but never condemn you (Romans 8:1).
I need you to believe that I will use every piece of your life for your good, and for my glory (Romans 8:28).
My thoughts are bigger, and higher, and farther than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). I’ve already been there and I know. I know the joy and power of victory. I know the devastation and heartache of failure. I know where you are, and I know where you’ve been. I know who you are, and who you’re meant to be.
Yes, I could save you from all of the mistakes, confusion, and setbacks. But in the end, what would that do? You would never know that I was telling you the truth, if you never had to choose between honesty and deception. You would never know just how much I love you, if you never knew the pain of this fallen world.
My sweet child, you will go through seasons of suffering and discomfort. But you must always believe I will never leave you (Deuteronomy 31:8).
When you’ve outdone yourself in rebellion and shame causes you to hide, I will be right here waiting until your last breath.
When you rejoice with compassion for your sister or brother, I am there with you.
When you are rewarded for your tenacity, I am there with you.
When you are lost in sadness, I am there with you.
When you want to step out in faith but you’re afraid, I will hold your hand.
When you seek me with all your heart, you will find me (Jeremiah 29:13).
Whether you turn to the left or to the right, I will guide you (Isaiah 30:21).
When you break my heart, I will still chase after you because you are mine.
My love will never stop (Romans 8:38).
My breath is your breath. My heart is your heart (Genesis 2:7).
I long to say “well done” (Matt. 25:21).
My love will never, ever give up. ❤️
Scriptures to meditate on:
“…Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head, Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always “me first,” Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others, Doesn’t revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth, Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end.”
1 Corinthians 13:3-7 MSG
“I am sure of this. Nothing can stop God from loving us. Death cannot do that. Life cannot do that. Angels cannot do that, nor can demons do that. Nothing that happens to us now, or that will happen in a future time can do that. No powerful spirits can do that. Nothing that is high above the world can do that, nor anything that is deep down below the ground. Nothing else in the whole universe can stop God from loving us. Because of our Lord Christ Jesus, we know how much God loves us.”
Romans 8:38-39 EASY
“‘I knew you even before I made your body inside your mother’s body. I chose you before you were born. I decided that you must be a prophet to all the countries in the world,’ he said.”
Jeremiah 1:5 EASY
“I am convinced that my God will fully satisfy every need you have, for I have seen the abundant riches of glory revealed to me through the Anointed One, Jesus Christ!”
Philippians 4:19 TPT
“But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago.”
Psalms 77:11 NLT
